Trek in the Valley

As you may have noticed, there wasn't a new episode of the podcast last week and there isn't this week either. Al has officially, and on good terms, left the show because he has other positive stuff to focus on! I, Adam, the other A name on the pod, am taking this as a sign to work on other projects...such as my podcast Movies Over My Hammy where we cover movies and their food tie-in menu items.

Romulans, man! Can't trust them to help you until you can, but then more Romulans show up that you don't have a connection with and things get weird. I think that's what this episode was about. Geordi met a Romulan in a lightening cave and there was a Neutral Zone standoff between Picard and a Romulan captain. The fate of the cease fire was in jeopardy, I tell you! Anyway, we have a great time talking about it. Check it out. If you dare! It actually isn'y foreboding like that.

Trek in the Vallites! We've got a Geordi coming in hot. In Star Trek: The Next Generation, S3 EP6, "Booby Trap" at first it seems like maybe Geordi is an incel, but it turns out he just can't relax around a lady unless she is the holographic personification of an engineer that is helping him solve a problem before everyone on the ship dies of radiation poisoning. Also, Worf has a couple good lines. We talk about it all and also more!

This week Adam and Al dig into an emotional and philosophical episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, with S3 EP 4, "The Bonding." In this episode, pretty much every single person feels responsible for some kind of death in some way. The various members of the crew navigate these feelings while dealing with a sort of powerful alien presence that, you guessed it, feels responsible for some sort of death. All that, plus Al having a successful what does Al remember, and some insightful recommendations, on episode #174 of Trek in the Valley.

Picard and the gang run into the two surviving colonists of a massacre. However, and you are not going to even begin to start to even try to believe this, things are not as they seem! Trek in the Vallites unite for we have a ripper of a Data episode. Picard suggests Data could be a little less honest at times to hide his weaknesses as an android pursuing command. Data uses that idea to mixed results while trying to convince some idiot settlers on some planet to not let the owners of the planet show up and vaporize them. Data and Picard are both on their various ticking clocks and we get into it! The alien race of the week is quite rad.

Cue "Evolution" By Edward Vedder and the Pearl Jam Gang! This week, Trek in the Vallites, we are covering the first episode of Season 3 of Star Trek: TNG, "Evolution." Which means this is technically season SIX of Trek in the Valley. In this one, the ship gets taken down a peg by tiny robo space-bugs or something! We recorded it a couple weeks ago. Wes Crusher seems to have become less annoying during the break between seasons.

This week we get our first Star Trek: TNG clip show with the Season Finale of S2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, "Shades of Gray." This episode tricks you into thinking it is going to be about Riker almost dying from alien infection, but then when the B-Story is supposed to kick in, it turns into a clips show. We touch on the "they were out of money" of it all, mention the writer's strike, but not in depth because we don't do that! Man, Frakes sometimes gets tied to bad Star Trek Season Finales...
